Not that The Grammy's really mean anything, but I was always pissed that Norah Jones beat out The Rising for Album of the Year.

Which one do you think has stood the test of time, not even 5 years later?

Right. Norah who?

How dare you knock The Grammys. Everyone agrees Jethro Tull deserved to beat out Metallica for best heavy metal album in 1988.

Because prancing, mincing flute-players rock!

But that was a new category in 1988 I think. At least we can give them credit for adding the category - even if they didn't know what it means, can't we? It's not as if a Grammy voter should be expected to listen to the music they're voting on, right?

I think the voters of most of these awards (Tonys, Grammys, Emmys, even Oscars) are no better than the random group of people running an office Oscar pool.

("Hmmm, let's see - Best Documentary, Short Subject...Oh, this one has the word 'Nazi' in the title, I'll pick that one)

Predicting Oscar voters is a refined skill, which you'll have to admit after I dominate my informal pool every year.

And I'll do you one better by predicting Helen Mirren wins Best Actress this year for "The Queen" even though the year isn't over, I haven't seen the movie and nominations won't be announced for months.

I rule!
